Our Favourite Children’s Books: 0-6 months

It’s never too early to read to our little ones. We introduced Baby Boo to books when she was 1.5 months old and since then, books have been an integral part of her daily routine. In fact, we preferred investing in children’s books over toys because children at that age don’t really understand the concept of playing with toys expect for rattles (which we received a box-ful of :p)

Without wasting much of your time, let me quickly share our favorite books that are apt for 0-6m old babies:

In fact, in my opinion, if you have just these five books, you’re sorted for the first 6 months:

1. Ladybird Board-books: These books are perfect for newborns. At this age, it’s best to buy sturdy and colorful board books which have minimal text and touch and feel portions in it. Most of the books by Ladybird in this range also have a mirror, which babies love! I’ve linked two of their best sellers below: Peekaboo and Playbook

Pro-tip: Prefer board-books only until they turn 2 years old.

2. Fabric/Cloth Books

Fabric books are often made with a variety of textures and have pockets filled with sound-making papers that babies tend to love. We purchased ‘Snuggle Book’, again from Ladybird Publications and it was a hit with her during the first 6 months. I have no idea if it’s still available on Amazon, but if it isn’t, you can definitely consider getting some other fabric/cloth book of your choice.

3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

This classic picture book has been a favorite of many for decades and I wasn’t surprised to see how much my girl loved it too! A must have in your little reader’s collection!

4. First 100 Words by Roger Priddy

This tiny cushioned board book is so colorful and has a variety of objects to look at. It is one of our travel favorites!

5. Foam Books

I purchased a set of 6 foam books from an Instagram store which doubled as teethers too. Unfortunately, they aren’t available online and the store is no more functional. Nonetheless, if you happen to come across foam books, I’d highly recommend investing in them.
