Our Favorite Children’s Books: 6-12 months

For the first 6 months, Baby Boo would just curiously look at books when we read to her. Maybe occasionally smile, but that was about it. The real fun began when she turned around 7-months old. She started to flip pages, showed interest in knowing what’s on the next page, would bang her hands on pictures that she loved and always had a huge smile on her face when she was read to.

Some of our favorites from that stage were:

1.Where is Baby’s Belly Button? by Karen Katz

If you’ve been watching our Instagram stories, you probably know Boo’s love for this book. In fact, this book was her absolute favorite. She loved to lift the flaps and look at different babies on each page. If your child is 7-8 months old, I’d highly recommend this book.

2. Moo Baa LaLaLa by Sandra Bonyton

This was our second favorite book. In fact, one of the first words she learnt to speak was ‘moo’ which she picked up from this book itself. Again, an amazing book for kids above 6 months of age.

3. Is This My Nose?

I purchased this one randomly from a Facebook store of pre-loved books, and I can’t thank my stars enough for picking this book. Even today, she often reaches out to this one! This book helped us a lot while we were teaching her parts of the body.

4. Dr. Suess’s ABC

At first, I found the book to complex for young minds, but surprisingly, she loves it so much that it made it to our list of favorites. The rhymes and questions it has quickly make babies fall in love with this book.

5. ABC by Alphaprints

We love this book for the fact that it has huge-sized finger-prints with touch and feel textures on each page along with the names and pictures of animals beginning from that letter. A much better way of teaching kids ABC.

There are many other wonderful books apt for this age, but these were the ones we purchased and loved.

Hope you found this helpful.
